This complex, which gets its name from the 18th century chapel dedicated to the saint, is located along a tuffaceous ridge that runs along the Lente River below. The area is composed of a Rupestrian complex that is difficult to date, due to the long line of settlements there and reuse of the same buildings.
During the 3rd and 2nd centuries B.C., the complex hosted a necropolis, with chamber-like tombs dug out of the vertical walls of the west side of the tuffaceous spur.
There is a modest Rupestrian dwelling, dating back to the post-classical era, composed of various rooms dug out of the tuff and used for various activities; in addition, there are two vaults lined with square-shaped burial niches, quite similar to the Roman tombs, known as “a colombario”. A hollow road, cut into the tuffaceous rock, connected the small Rupestrian dwelling to the centre of Sorano.
